Madeleine Goodwolf Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1975 -

Tasmanian based printmaker Madeleine Goodwolf consistently explores the power of colour in her work. The nature of printmaking, with its emphasis on process and the huge array of effects achievable, fascinates Goodwolf. She speaks of the delight in pulling a print and seeing the outcome of different and unusual colour combinations – for Goodwolf the result is rarely preconceived, with each work having a totally organic evolution.

Her loose, painterly mark creates an enviable effect of spontaneity, and combined with bold coloration, Goodwolf has created a dynamic set of images in her most recently published works: By chance , Beneath the mountain , Late in the day , and Where the sky ends . The sense of whimsy and playfulness that also characterises her prints is clearly evident in By chance.

Goodwolf’s love of printmaking inspired her and her partner Nicolas Goodwolf to establish the Tapir Print Studio – an open access print studio established with the assistance of Arts Tasmania in 1998.
