Martin Goode Sold at Auction Prices

Martin Goode was born in London and showed interest in sketching and cartooning from his early schooldays. He lived in Tillicoultry in Scotland for five years, which inspired his passion for the rugged British countryside. His non-stop drawing and cartooning soon turned to painting which he continued to study in his home county of Essex. Martin's career started as a creative photographer, then a commercial artist and graphic designer.

He then founded a successful Essex based printing company in 1978 which still flourishes today. The combination of Art, Photography and Printing paved the way to develop a publishing company in 1987, producing fine art prints depicting scenes of British cities, towns and villages. Martin Goode Watercolours now boast the largest catalogue of local views available in the UK with over 2000 published titles, and Martin Goode's original paintings adorn homes all over the world. Martin's attention to detail and carefully constructed compositions have made him one of the industry's most prolific and sought after watercolour artists.

He has written articles for artists' magazines, has produced his own library of instruction videos, has held one man exhibitions and has demonstrated his watercolour techniques at many art exhibitions and seminars. Commissions for original paintings have been received from palaces, town councils, commercial organisations, art galleries and individual collectors.Martin Goode sadly passed away on February 27th 2002 after a sudden illness, Martin was much loved by his family and friends and greatly respected throughout the art world.

As the founder of Martin Goode Watercolours some 15 years ago, Martin's unique talent as a fine watercolourist and excellent business mind has ensured the continuing success of the company. Martin Goode will be hugely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, however his company continues operating with Martin's son and business partner, Vincent Goode at the helm.
