      Alex Gonzales (1927-2020) American, Oil on Canvas. 1962, Signed. Inscribed verso with title. Overall Size: 39 1/2 x 36 1/2 in. #1408 . Alex Gonzales is known for Abstract figure-landscape painting, collage. Alex Gonzales was born in the Arizona mining town of Superior on September 2, 1927. He is a painter specializing in abstract human images and landscapes in oil, acrylic and collage. Gonzales moved to the San Francisco, California area where he graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute. He earned a BA degree in Education from the College of Arts and Crafts, and an MA degree from San Francisco State University. While in that area he taught art at San Francisco State University, the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department, and at the American Federation of Arts. He settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1962 where he has served as the Chairman of the Art Department at the Monterey Peninsula College. Alex Gonzales first became an artist member of the Carmel Art Association in 1961 and remained a member there until 1971. He rejoined that organization again in 1976 and has been a member since then. He served on their Board of Directors in 1969-70, and again in 1988. Location J High

Dimensions: 17.75 x 12 in. as framed. Condition: Very good. Frame glass with oxidation to interior.
