      Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right. Painted probably as a pendant for the portrait of the brother, the fifth prince Murat, they were both children of Gioacchino Giuseppe Napoleone Murat and Malcy Louise Caroline Berthier de Wagram. Gomien depicts the princess holding her puppy, a Cavalier King. On her feet there is a straw hat decorated with a pink ribbon that recalls the lace gown, described with admirable attention to the details. 39.37 x 30.71 in. Provenienza / Provenance Galleria Giamblanco, Torino.

      Portrait of a lady,Oil on canvas,Signed and dated 1867,Charles Gomien was a French portrait artist and a pupil of Paul Delaroche. He entered L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1828 and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1831 to 1875. Gomien enjoyed great success as a portrait painter to the nobility and gentry of France and also painted miniatures. An exhibition of his works was held in his hometown, Villers-les-Nancy in 2008.
