    B. GOLDSCHMIDT (DATES UNKNOWN) TOTENMAL / MÜNCHEN. 1930. 29 3/8x19 3/4 inches, 76x50 cm. Carl Gerber, Munich. Condition B: restored losses in corners; repaired tears and restoration in margins and image; abrasions in mage. An extremely avant-garde dance and multi-media production staged by the German expressionist dancer Mary Wigman in Munich in 1930. Karl Toepfer contends that "Totenmal was probably the most controversial dance work produced during the whole of the Weimar Republic. It provoked a turbulent critical response throughout the country and fascinated audiences during a ten-week run in Munich" (Empire of Ecstasy, p. 310).
