The Wicked Pony Bronze, After Frederic Remington, Cecil Golding, 1982

This striking bronze is after the famous Frederic Remington sculpture, The Wicked Pony. The piece was produced in 1982 by Cecil Golding based on Remington’s original. This bronze bears Remington’s signature on the top left-hand side and the inscription: “Museum Collections 1982 Cecil Golding P.A.F. 142/1000". The bronze is mounted on a raised on a 1" wood stand. Remington created the clay model of sand-cast bronze for The Wicked Pony not long after his first and most famous sculpture, The Broncho Buster, circa 1895. The Wicked Pony stayed in the artist’s studio for more than two years before it was finally put into plaster and cast in bronze beginning in 1898.
