    • MAURICE GOLDBERG PHOTO PRINT OF DANCER NINTA SANDRE
      May. 22, 2021

MAURICE GOLDBERG PHOTO PRINT OF DANCER NINTA SANDRE

      Est: $100 - $200

This is a beautiful photo print of dancer Ninta Sandre by Russian-American photographer Maurice Goldberg (1881-1949). Goldberg emigrated to the United States in 1905 and settled in the Bronx. Trained in the fine arts, he initially tried his hand at painting. Photography was an ancillary pursuit. He began to experiment with pictorialist portraiture of his family, and achieved such gratifying results that he rethought his metier. The influx of Russian performing artists, particularly dancers and actors, into New York in the 1910s provided him a newsworthy subject. Ninta Sandre, the subject of this portrait, was a dancer and instructor in New York City. Framed under glass. - The frame is 12 3/4" x 9 3/4" and the sight view is 11 3/4" x 8 3/4". The printed area is 9" x 6 1/2".
