        Original vintage London Transport poster for Davis Cup at Wimbledon, Interzone Final on July 18, 20 & 21 and Challenge Round on July 25, 27 & 28, 1936. Design by Walter Goetz (1911-1995) – features two tennis players holding rackets dressed in white uniforms shaking hands over a tennis net. Printed by the Dangerfield Printing Company Ltd. Davis Cup started in 1900, it is a premier international team event in men’s tennis. Great Britain won the 1936 challenge. Good condition, folds, pinholes, tears. The artwork was created by Walter Goetz, a German-born British illustrator as well as cartoonist whose delightful perspectives on the English and Anglo-French relations entertained audiences via his Daily Express cartoon strips "Colonel Up and Mr. Down" and "Dab and Flounder" (1934-54) and in Pierre Danino’s "Major Thompson" books (1954-57). The Baynard Press, established in 1894 by F Sanders Phillips, employed craftsmen of considerable skill such as Thomas Griffits, advanced the practice of color lithography, and printed many of London Transport's pictorial posters.
