Michael McCoy Glancy Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Plastic Art

When Michael Glancy was a student at the Rhode Island School of Design, he discovered a lab that informed his engagement with copper electroforming on glass. He travels to Sweden annually to direct the making of the glass blanks that he brings back to the U.S. Here he shapes his glass art in a studio that involves complex fabrication methods and materials that include sandblasting patterns. His organic-looking compositions are inspired by both microscopic patterns and mathematical formulas suggested by the science of molecular biology. His sandblasted patterns are electroformed or electroplated on and within the body of his glass to express his concerns with both order and chaos in nature and the universe. Amongst glass collectors, Michael Glancy’s studio glass is well known and highly admired, and his works are owned by major museums and private collections worldwide.
