    Est: $3,000 - $5,000

JOSEF GISELA [AUSTRIAN, 1854-1899], OIL ON CANVAS, 18" X 15 1/2", PORTRAIT OF A LITTLE BOY: Portrait of a little boy is loosely painted, but is nicely done. He is shown in half length with his blond hair neatly parted at one side and wearing heavy over coat, giving a slight sense of formality. His large blue eyes are quiet piercing, and yet full of innocence. The painting is signed at the upper right portion "Gisela" and is within a gilt frame. The piece is similar, and possibly the same, as one mentioned in a copy of an article in the Detroit Times by Walter Stevenson in January of 1957. This article describes a prized painting owned by Joseph Beauchamp, which he proudly displayed in his restaurant which he originally purchased at de Grimme Gallery, Grosse Pointe, MI. Josef Reznicek Gisela, Austrian: 1854-1899.
