Contrasts are me, Maarten gainess (1964) not strange. I make decorative work in different running techniques. In addition to acrylic and oil paint, I use mixed techniques where collages, printing techniques and drawings are given a place. Occasionally I make sculptures of stone. I let myself be inspired by many techniques and artists and have ideas about it. In doing so, I work very intuitively but now concentrate on just two themes: still lifes and flowers.

From 1985 till 1990 I studied at the Rietveld Academie and in 2000/01 I followed a didactical training (for art education) at the high School Amsterdam.

Since 2015 I work part-time as a salesman at Kite BV in Amsterdam.
