        Gill (Margery Jean, b.1925). A set of original illustrations for The Heavenly Carthorse, by Esmé Hamilton, pub. Bodley Head, 1958, together fourteen pen & ink drawings, depicting country scenes and animals, all titled in ms. to upper margin, sheet size 320 x 250 mm (12.5 x 10ins), together with a copy of the book for which they were drawn (there are fifteen illusts. in the book), orig. boards in price-clipped and sl. frayed d.j., 8vo Margery Gill illustrated many children's books from 1954 onwards, until about 1977. She attended the Harrow School of Art and studied etching and engraving at the Royal College of Art, London. She is particularly known for her precisely executed and lively black and white line drawings. (15)
