Adam Gibbs Tjapaltjarri Art for Sale and Sold Prices

Adam Gibbs Tjapaltjarri was born in 1958 in the community of Papunya before moving to Darwin as a child. He became involved in broadcasting and media within his community and worked for 13 years with BRACS in Walungurru and regularly broadcast over the PAW Radio Network from Walungurru.

Adam Tjapaltjarri’s training in media enabled him to teach other young Aboriginal people about his work, and to develop the expression of his culture. He has a large family and his mother, Ningura Napurrula, a Ngaatjatjarra woman who lived in Walungurru, was a well known artist for Papunya Tula. Adam’s father, Yala Yala Gibbs Tjungurrayi, was a respected Pintupi leader and was also a painter for Papunya Tula Artists.

Adam has been a member of Papunya Tula Artists since 1991 and his strong graphic style is very highly sought after. His work has been exhibited as part of Papunya’s national and international exhibitions since 1999.
