      Lucian Geraci (American, 1923-2005) Painting. Title - New England Lighthouse. Cape Ann, Massachusetts artist colony painting. Oil on masonite painting depicts the historic Twin Lights - Cape Ann Light Station at the entrance to Gloucester harbor. Unsigned. Artist name inscribed on the reverse. Painting measures 18 inches high, 24 inches wide. Frame measures 22.5 inches high, 28.5 inches wide. In good condition. light inpainting in the upper left sky. Acquired directly from the niece of artist Lucian Geraci. Photocopies of photographs of the artist dating from 1923 to 2003, and a letter from the artist's niece are included. From Askart.com: (1923-2005) Born in New Haven Connecticut, he studied at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. He became a Skowhegan (Maine) School of Painting and Sculpture scholar in 1948 and subsequently went to study abroad. Geraci received certificates from the Academie Julian in 1948-49, and the Beaux Arts Academie in 1949, both in Paris. He also studied at the Italian Academy in Rome, receiving a certificate in 1950. Returning to the U.S., he studied at the Rhode Island School of Design (B.F.A., 1953). Geraci painted portraits, landscapes, seascapes, and still life capturing the indigenous character and culture of Cape Ann where he lived and worked. He was the owner of the Art Gallery 123, in Lancaster, PA, from 1958-59; designer and stylist at the Hygiene Company, New York, Maartex, Cannon Mills, Armstrong Cork, from 1955-1970; president and owner of Geraci Galleries in Rockport, Mass., from 1978 to 1998. His work is present in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad. Exhibitions: Allied Artists, New York City, 1969; National Art Club, 1970-1971; Knickerbocker Artists, 1976, 1977; Butler Art Institute, Ohio, 1976, 1978; Salmagundi Club, 190-1996; Rockport Art Association, Massachusetts, 1974-1998; North Shore Art Association, 1984 to 1998.
