        (Fabriano, 1370 circa - Roma, 1427) Adorazione dei Magi Olio su tavola, cm 57,5X75 Provenienza: Roma, collezione Stenbock-Fermor Il dipinto è desunto dalla celebre pala d'altare concepita da Gentile da Fabriano nel 1423 per il ricco banchiere fiorentino Palla Strozzi e destinata ad ornare la cappella di famiglia nella basilica di Santa trinità che Lorenzo Ghiberti proprio in quegli anni stava completando. Agni inizi del XIX secolo con le soppressioni napoleoniche l’opera fu spostata in un deposito e successivamente alla Galleria dell’Accademia permettendo così lo studio e la formazione dei giovani allievi.

        Set of two lithographic prints comprising:</br>lithographic print of painting by Cima da Conegliano entitled Altarpiece and the Annunciation, originally painted c.1500-1510</br>Acquired by Queen Victoria (1819-1901) through Ludwig Gruner from Minardi of Rome in 1847 and given by the Queen to Prince Albert on his birthday, 26 August 1847. The bottom left panel depicts St George and the Dragon, bottom right panel St Theodore or St Liberale and the top two panels represent the Annunciation. During the 1490s Cima became the leading painter of altarpieces in Venice. Characteristic of a late work by the artist, these oils on panel form the centre part of a larger work.</br>Print size inches: 6.7 x 9.9 together with lithographic print of painting by Gentile da Fabriano entitled Madonna and Child with Angels (The Quaratesi Madonna), originally painted c.1430</br>Purchased by the Prince Albert - Queen Victoria's husband from Warner Otterly for £200, July 1846.Painted for the Quaratesi family in May 1425, this oil panel once formed the centre piece for the predella of the church of San Niccolo sopr' Arno near the Porta S.
