      Eugene Gaujean (French, 1850-1900) after Charles-Francois Daubigny (French, 1817-1878). Etching on laid paper after a 1843 Daubigny painting titled "Banks of the Oise" depicting an idyllic riverside landscape, 1883. Signed in plate by Gaujean along the lower right. Daubigny signature and date in plate along the lower right of the image. The print is from Albert Wolff "Cent Chefs-d'Oeuvre: The Choice of French Private Galleries." Paris: Georges Petit and Ludovic Bashet, 1883. Distributed by Knoedler & Co., New York.

      Eugene Gaujean (French, 1850-1900). Original 19th Century antique engraving, Heilige Maria Magdalena (Saint Mary Magdalene), after the Flemish painter Quentin Matsys (1466–1530), founder of the Antwerp School of painting, the leading school of painting in 16th century Flanders, who painted the original, which is held at Royal Museum of Fine Arts (Antwerp, Belgium), between 1514-1524. The engraver, Gaujean, exhibited at the Salon 1877-1894, and was awarded the gold medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. Printed GAUJEAN to bottom of portrait. Presented on a backing paper matte. Good overall condition with some wear to paper. Measures 11 1/4 in. x 8 1/4 in. (sight), 19 1/2 in. x 12 3/4 in. (matte). Sold unframed.       Eugene Gaujean 19C Engraving after Quentin Matsys

      Eugene Gaujean (French, 1850-1900). Original 19th Century antique engraving, The Virgin at Prayer, after the Flemish painter Quentin Matsys (1466–1530), founder of the Antwerp School of painting, the leading school of painting in 16th century Flanders. An early work by the artist, displaying the influence of Jan van Eyck (c. 1390–1441), as is evident from its scholarly comparison with the Adoration of the Lamb of God (the Ghent Altarpiece) in the Cathedral of St Bavon in Ghent. The engraver, Gaujean, exhibited at the Salon 1877-1894, and was awarded the gold medal at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1900. Printed GAUJEAN to bottom of portrait. Presented on a backing paper matte. Good overall condition with some wear to matte. Measures 6 1/4 in. x 4 1/2 in. (sight), 19 1/2 in. x 12 1/2 in. (matte). Sold unframed. "The Old and The Young", hand colored engraving, signature facsimiles of painter and engraver below image. Engraving depicts an interior scene of three men sitting at table in a sunroom with paned windows as a female in pink dress pours spirits into a decanter and the men look on with smiles, a green wooded scene beyond the windows.
