Karl Gatermann der Ältere, Sonnige Gasse wohl sommerliche Straßenszene in Ratzeburg, mit Fachwerkhäusern und Bauernkaten, im hellen Sonnenlicht, pastose Malerei mit breitem Pinselduktus, Öl auf Leinwand, Mitte 20. Jh., links unten signiert "K. Gatermann", Farbplatzer, minimal restaurierungsbedürftig, gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 27,5 x 38,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: dt. Landschaftsmaler, Zeichner und Graphiker (1883 Mölln/Lauenburg bis 1959 Ratzeburg), Lehre als Dekorationsmaler, Wanderjahre führten ihn 1901–03 nach Dessau, München und durch Hessen, danach studierte er nebenberuflich von 1904–07 an der Kunstschule Lübeck unter Leo von Lütgendorff, von 1907–14 Studium an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München als Meisterschüler bei Hugo von Habermann, 1919–42 freischaffend in Lübeck, 1919 Mitbegründer und zeitweise zweiter Vorsitzender der Vereinigung Lübecker Bildender Künstler, 1942 verlor er beim Bombenangriff auf Lübeck seine gesamte Habe und Umzug nach Ratzeburg, Quelle: Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Dressler, Matrikel der Münchner Akademie und Wikipedia. Gatermann", paint loss, minimally in need of restoration, framed, rebated dimensions approx. 27.5 x 38.5 cm. Artist info: German landscape painter. Landscape painter, draughtsman and graphic artist (1883 Mölln/Lauenburg to 1959 Ratzeburg), trained as a decorative painter, travelling years took him to Dessau, Munich and through Hesse in 1901-03, after which he studied part-time at the Lübeck art school under Leo von Lütgendorff from 1904-07, from 1907-14 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich as a master student under Hugo von Habermann, 1919-42 freelance in Lübeck, 1919 co-founder and temporary second chairman of the Association of Lübeck Visual Artists, 1942 lost all his possessions in the bombing of Lübeck and moved to Ratzeburg, source: Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Dressler, Matrikel der Münchner Akademie and Wikipedia.

GATERMANN Karl (1883 Mölln - 1959 Ratzeburg) ''Winterlandschaft im Travetal'' bei Lübeck, winterliche Stimmung mit schneebedecktem Himmel, im Vordergrund zwei Bauernhäuser, ein paar wenige Bäume flankieren die Gebäude, Ölgemälde auf Leinwand, unten rechts signiert und (19)39 datiert, rückseitig auf Rahmen bezeichnet, 68x92cm (Leinwand), 79x103cm (Rahmen), R *Gatermann absolvierte eine Ausbildung zum Dekorationsmaler. Um 1900 begann er berufsbegleitend an der Kunstschule Lübeck bei Leo von Lüttgendorf zu studieren. In München wurde er Meisterschüler von Hugo von Habermann. Gatermann war dort Mitglied der Münchner Künstlervereinigung Sema, die 1911-13 um den Maler Paul Klee gegründet wurde. Inspirationen für seine impressionistischen Werke fand er vor allem in norddeutschen Landschaften.*
