b. 1974 -

Vidya Gastaldon was born in Besançon in 1974, and currently lives and works between Geneva and Grange Neuve, Switzerland. In her works (drawings, installations or videos), there are references to Hindu divinities and Christian cultures, elements from the natural world, symbols of oriental religions and hippie culture, as well as objects of daily life. Vidya Gastaldon imbues immaterial things with a sensitive form, and defines the spatial dimension of impalpable things.

In her installations, she often uses simple fabrics and materials, traditionally considered feminine. Alongside the sweet and warm atmosphere of her work, there is also a more opaque, troubling and ambigous side.

Vidya Gastaldon has exhited at Art: Concept, Paris (2013) and MAMCO, Geneva (2012). Her installation Escalator - Rainbow Rain (2007) was exhibited at Palazzo Grassi in the exhibition “The Illusion of Light” (2014-15).
