Jerrie J. Gast Art for Sale at Auction

- d. 2017

Jerrie was born in 1942 in Tuscaloosa but spent her early childhood in Gadsden. Her family moved to Michigan in the 1950s. She was a graduate of Waterford Township High School. In 1964, she received a degree in art from Michigan State University after her marriage to Carl Gast. She spent most of her life in Midland, Texas, and in Houston, Texas, where Carl worked in engineering management for Shell Pipeline, and she taught art. Jerrie was a great lover of animals, but art had been her passion since childhood. She always said that art was "her work, her leisure and her fun."
After retirement, she devoted all her energy to painting. While in Houston, she was a member of several galleries. She was past president of Wash (watercolor, art, society, Houston).
After returning to Gadsden a few years ago, she became a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, the Gadsden Museum of Art and the Gadsden Woman's Club.
