Nußdorf’ Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm Very good condition Provenance: Private collection, Austria Walter Gamerith exhibited a collection of 46 works at the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1944; his landscape views reflect the main focus of his oeuvre Walter Gamerith was fascinated by Lake Attersee in Austria, where he found beautiful motifs for his works and studies. The present painting reveals bright fields and meadows and the small village ‘Nußdorf’ in the distance. The work is characterized by bright colors and a soft and broad brushwork. The painting is inscribed in pencil ‘Gamerith, Attersee. Nußdorf’ on the reverse. There are light traces of dirt at the lower edge. The image measures 50 x 70 cm, framed overall dimensions are 53 x 73 cm. Walter Gamerith (1903-1949) Walter Gamerith started his artistic training at the Academy of Arts in Vienna. He specialized in painting in 1926 and attended the class of Professor Karl Sterrer (1885-1972). He completed his studies in 1930 and set off for some travels through Europe. His first exhibition was held at the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1930, which resulted in his admission as a member in 1939. Gamerith painted portraits and nudes, but his main artistic focus was landscape painting. Italian and Parisian motifs deeply influenced his work, as well as the beautiful areas around Lake Attersee. Composed in a bird's eye view the painter presents an image of the district Haining of the town Seewalchen at Attersee. The trees on the rich green fields appear in autumn colors of bright yellow, orange and brown. The painting is overall in good condition. Some scattered small-scale retouching visible under UV light, otherwise of good impression. The canvas is remargined at the bottom with black yarn. Inscribed on the stretcher 'Gamerith. Haining im Herbst'. With an old label on the stretcher, thereupon typographically inscribed '1946. 0875'. The image measures 50 x 79.5 cm. The framed dimensions are 56 x 86 cm.
