Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 26,000 Euro The two present works, kept in the typical style of the artist, show the allegorical personifications of summer and autumn. In addition to her portraits and religious motifs, Gaggiotti Richards was well-known for her mythological-allegorical depictions. Condition: The paintings are in good condition. Both canvases are relined. The paint surface shows slight overall craquelure. The inspection under UV light reveals overpaintings to the margins and to the figure areas. The frame bears some small bumps and rubbings to the corners and edges. The canvases measure 83 x 70 cm. The total dimensions, including the frame of 99.5 x 87 cm. Emma Gaggiotti Richards (1825-1912) Born in Rome, Gaggiotti Richards spent her childhood in Ancona, where Nicola Consorti trained her. In Ancona, she met her future husband, an Englishman, with which she settled in London until 1854. In 1855, Gaggiotti Richards returned to Italy and worked there in addition to Ancona and Rome in Florence and Velletri. In addition to her portraits the religious and mythological paintings of Gaggiotti Richards, also were very popular. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
