Moric Gabor was a Hungarian painter, illustrator, college professor.Moric Gabor was born on March 20, 1889 in Kisujszallas, he died on September 12, 1986 in Budapest.Moric Gabor came from a Jewish family. He studied at the Royal College of Fine Arts in the years 1906 and 1907. His most important teachers were Bertalan Szekely, Pal Szinyei Merse and Ede Ballo. He continued his studies at the National College of Fine Arts in Paris, his head teacher being Fernand Cormon. After his studies he traveled to Italy, Germany, Austria, then he was a portrait painter in the United States and the Netherlands. In 1913 he returned home and painted in Budapest. Already in 1911 his cartoons were seen in Hungarian newspapers. Between 1945 - 1948 he taught at the College of Industrial Arts. He painted mainly landscapes, object paintings, portraits, rarely did he create stained glass windows and medals.His portrait received an award in 1922, himself in 1979 and 1981.

Der aus einer jüdischen Familie stammende Gábor studierte 1906/07 an der Akademie in Budapest und setzte seine Ausbildung an der École des Beaux-Arts in Paris bei Fernand Cormon fort. Nach Reisen durch Italien, Deutschland und Österreich wirkte er als Porträtmaler in den USA und den Niederlanden, bis er 1913 nach Budapest zurückkehrte. Öl/Lwd., doubl.; R. u. sign. u. dat. 1928. 75,5 cm x 55 cm. Rahmen. Oil on canvas, relined. Signed and dated 1928.
