    DEMILUNE CONSOLE Louis XVI, Berne, ca. 1790. Johann Friedrich Funk II (1745-1781) and workshop. Wood, carved with rosettes and palmettes, and gilt. Oberhasli marble top with shaped edge. Fluted, tapered legs. 59.5 × 31 × 86.5 cm. Few losses. Gilding rubbed. Marble top with minimal chips on the edge. Provenance: - Private property, Switzerland. - Stuker Auctions, Berne, Fall 2013, Lot No. 1260. - Wehrli Collection, acquired at the above auction. An almost identical console, but with an ocher marble top from Büren, is found in the collections of the Historical Museum, in the "Haus zum Kirschgarten" in Basel, Inv. No. 1923.375 (depicted in Hermann von Fischer, Fonck à Berne, Berne, 2001, p. 609). --------------- DEMILUNE-KONSOLE Louis XVI, Bern, um 1790. Johann Friedrich Funk II (1745–1781) und Werkstatt. Holz geschnitzt mit Rosetten und Palmetten sowie vergoldet. Halbrundes, randmulüriertes Oberhasli-Marmorblatt mit Beinvorsprüngen über gerader kannelierter Zarge auf ebenfalls kannelierten, sich nach unten verjüngenden Beinen. 59,5 × 31 × 86,5 cm. Wenige Fehlstellen. Vergoldung berieben. Marmorblatt mit minimen Randbestossungen. Provenienz: - Privatbesitz Schweiz. - Auktion Stuker Bern, Herbst 2013, Lot 1260. - Sammlung Wehrli, bei obiger Auktion erworben. Eine nahezu identische Konsole, jedoch mit einem ockerfarbenen Marmorblatt aus Büren, findet sich in den Sammlungen des Historischen Museums, im Haus zum Kirschgarten in Basel, Inv.-Nr. 1923.375 (Abgebildet in Hermann von Fischer, Fonck à Berne, Bern, 2001, S. 609). ---------------

    with a shaped demi-lune grey marble top above a guilloche-carved apron hung with floral swags, raised on fluted tapering legs joined by shaped stretchers centered by an urn flanked by swags. Johann Friedrich Funk II (1745-1811) was a scion of the Funk family of cabinet-makers founded in Bern by Mathäuf Funk (b.1697) in the early 18th century.
