The present work depicts the greens at Turnberry, the famous golf course in South Ayrshire, Scotland, commissioned by the Marquess of Ailsa in 1902. During the Second World War, the Turnberry Hotel was converted into a hospital, and the fairways served as runways for the Royal Air Force, as seen here. Bernhard Fuchs (b. 1971) Bernhard Fuchs studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf between 1993 and 1997. From 1994 he was a student of Bernd Becher (1931-2007). Between 1997 and 1999 he continued his studies at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and graduated with a master student degree. A well-established photographer in Düsseldorf, the artist however almost always returns to the rural environment of his hometome Helfenberg in Upper Austria, when it comes to new photographic projects. Since the early 1990s, Fuchs has developed a series of works, depicting human being in their original environment. Fuchs’ photographs have been exhibited in many important museums, including the Museum at Museum Folkwang Museum in Essen, the Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf, and the Sprengel Museum in Hannover.
