Cartoonist for the comic strip Roxie West, artist Emmett John Fritz was born in Missouri in 1917. After attending Pratt Institution in New York, he moved to Florida in the 50s. He enjoyed the atmosphere and began to paint Impressionist-style landscapes and cityscapes of St. Augustine. Painter Emmett John Fritz used his prolific skill with watercolors and oil paints to capture the beauty of the Caribbean Islands during his travels there.
