Fraser"; label chipped, some wear at extremities. Black buckram slipcase, black morocco gilt label. NOTE Inscribed on the front free endpaper, "To Mrs. Isenberg, Sketches for 'Koamalu' ... Damon's Koamalu: A Story of Pioneers on Kauai and of What They Built in That Island Garden (Honolulu, 1931). In addition to landscape and architectural drawing, sketches of furniture, household goods and a few botanical speciemns are also included. Juliette May Fraser (1887--1983) was born in Honolulu and "rose to be dean of island painters and one of Hawaii's 'living treasures'" (Day, History Makers of Hawaii). Her murals can be seen in a number of locations in Hawaii, including the Hawaii State Library, the Ala Moana Hotel, and the Hamilton Library at the University of Hawaii.
