Interesting Mount Auburn, Cincinnati Painting, Godfrey Frankenstein

      Est: $200 - $400

Godfrey Nicholas Frankenstein (American/Ohio, 1820-1873). An oil on tin of a large home with front porch. Frankenstein was a bit of a wanderer and began as a sign painter at a young age. His views of Niagara Falls became well known in the 1850s (there is one large example at the Twin Towers retirement home in Cincinnati). This subject appears to be a home in Mt. Auburn belonging to Elijah Slack, who was an early subdivider of the area, according to the note on verso. Unsigned. 5" x 7" (framed).
