Chris Forsey Art for Sale and Sold Prices

I have been an illustrator and artist for nearly all my working life and I live and have my studio in Dorking, Surrey. I am mostly interested in landscape, townscape and coastal subjects and also Still Life. The close proximity of The North Downs to my home and studio constantly inspires me and I paint and sketch this fine landscape regularly.

My main preoccupation is with atmosphere, light and weather, and I endeavour to capture the fleeting changes and how it affects the scene before me. I prefer to work in the studio from location sketches and photographs, mostly in water-based media.

I was elected a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 2010 and also a member of The Society of Graphic Fine Artists.

TECHNIQUES, MEDIA AND APPROACH TO PAINTING.

I paint on paper, board and canvas. I use a flat brush for all media and a variety of other tools and brushes including palette knife, roller, card, hand and finger, rag and sponge. For mixed-media paintings I combine watercolour, acrylic, pastel and acrylic ink, or any combination of a couple of these materials. My acrylic paintings are mostly on canvas or board, textured to create a random, unpredictable surface.

I enjoy painting landscape, townscape, and coastal subjects, concentrating on light, weather, season and atmosphere. I also like painting Still Life, mostly in mixed-media.
