Signed at the bottom of each piece, printed and hand colored in Italy on the back of the Doris Raab. The two black and white pieces are Pietro Fontanas pieces.       Pietro Fontana (1762 Bassano - 1837 Rom) after Luigi Agricola (1759 Rom - 1821 ibid.): Filippo NERI on his deathbed, c. 1800, Copper engraving Technique: Copper engraving on Paper Date: c. 1800 Description: inscribed on the right below the depiction "Pietro Fontana incise", inscribed on the left below the depiction "Luigi Agricola inv.e.dis.", named "S. Philippus Neri". Depiction of Filippo NERI standing in an interior room, in front of the deathbed of a male figure. The latter is just receiving his last rites, two angels are already hovering over the head of the dying man. Filippo NERI is considered an outstanding figure of the Counter-Reformation in 16th century Rome. Shortly after his death, Philip NERI was beatified by Pope Paul V in 1600, and he was canonised in 1622. Keywords: 19th century, Romanticism, Biblical, Italy, Size: 26,9 cm x 19,0 cm (10,6 x 7,5 in), Depiction: 20,0 cm x 14,7 cm (7,9 x 5,8 in) Condition: Good condition. Isolated pale discolourations and faint creases. Crease mark on the left margin, the corners of the sheet are bumped.
