Fine impressions on thin laid paper (some with watermark). Trimmed. Generally in very good condition. Each table fixed on a modern passepartout. In leather box with title engraved in gold.

      Giovanni Battista Fontana, Die Heilige Familie die am Fuße eines Baums sitzende Maria, dem Jesuskind fürsorglich die Brust gebend und an ihrer Seite Josef, großformatiger Kupferstich auf schwachem Bütten, Mitte 16. Jh., unten mittig im Druck bezeichnet und datiert "Battista Parmen. formis. Roma 1588" (formis = Besitzer der Druckplatte), schöner, klarer, gratiger Abzug, Papier gleichmäßig gebräunt und minimal fleckig, teils innerhalb der Einfassungslinie beschnitten, hinter Kunststoffscheibe gerahmt, Blattmaße ca. 44 x 33,8 cm. Künstlerinfo: ital. Künstler (um 1524 Ala bei Verona bis 1587 Innsbruck) über die Ausbildung des Künstlers ist nichts bekannt, ab 1562 im Dienst von Kaiser Ferdinand I., ab 1572 für Ferdinand II. tätig, 1573 Gestaltung der Fresken im Ballspiel Burg, ab 1575 Hofmaler von Ferdinand II., Ausstattung der Silbernen Kapelle der Hofkirche zu Innsbruck, 1586 Gestaltung einer Holzdecke auf Schloss Ambras, Quelle: Thieme-Becker und Wikipedia. Giovanni Battista Fontana, The Holy Family Mary sitting at the foot of a tree, caringly giving her breast to the infant Jesus, with Joseph at her side, large-format copperplate engraving on weak laid paper, mid-16th century, inscribed and dated in the lower centre of the print "Battista Parmen. formis. Roma 1588" (formis = owner of the printing plate), nice, clear, burr-free impression, paper evenly browned and minimally spotted, partly trimmed within the border line, framed behind plastic sheet, sheet dimensions approx. 44 x 33,8 cm. Artist's info: Ital. Artist (c. 1524 Ala near Verona to 1587 Innsbruck) nothing is known about the artist's training, from 1562 in the service of Emperor Ferdinand I, from 1572 working for Ferdinand II, in 1573 designed the frescoes in the Ballspiel Burg, from 1575 court painter to Ferdinand II, decorated the Silver Chapel of the Court Church at Innsbruck, in 1586 designed a wooden ceiling at Ambras Castle, Source: Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.

Placed on a modern cardboard support and fixed by two points to the upper margin only. Some stains and slight humidity spots almost invisible. A handwritten note in ink on the reverse. For the rest in excellent condition.
