        PAT GARRETT LETTER TO HIS WIFE. GARRETT, PATRICK FLOYD. 1850-1908. Autograph Letter Signed ('P.F. Garrett'), to his wife, 2 pp recto and verso, 4to, Eddy, NM, June 3, 1892, on Hotel Hagerman stationery, light creasing and toning, otherwise fine. Provenance: Purchased from Jim Smith Auctions, 1996. 'I DO THINK THIS THE MOST DISAGREEABLE PLACE I EVER SAW....' Garrett writes his wife from Eddy, NM where he is attending to business there and also in El Paso: ' I must stay here until I get this business finished or I will be compelled to make another trip up here soon, which I hope to never do again. I have not felt well for several days. The water makes me sick. I do think this the most disagreeable place I ever saw. If you were here with me you would never want to live in N. Mex. again.' Manuscript D.S. by JOSEPH SEGAR (1804-1880), long-time Virginia politician, a U.S. Representative and Senator, 1p. oblong 8vo., a sight draft for $250 issued to Floyd and signed by Segar, endorsed by Floyd across the face: "Accepted John B. Floyd". Very good. D.S.
