Here he photographed two men standing in front of a wall covered with posters in Manhattan’s contemporary art hot spot SoHo. From the 1950s onwards Fieger traveled around the world and compiled an extensive oeuvre of photographs, which are now regarded as ‘monuments of color photography’ and some of which were published in books. The present work is a first print from the estate of the photographer. The photograph is in very good condition. On the back the work is titled, dated, signed and inscribed ‘In Soho New York 1992 E. Fieger / 1. Abzug‘ in black felt-tip pen. The dimensions are 100 x 150 cm. Erwin Fieger (1928-2013) Erwin Fieger studied from 1951 until 1954 graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 1964, he taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Design in Ulm. He has published several series, for example the ’13 Photo-Essays’, ‘Ganges by Erwin Fieger’, ‘Israel by Erwin Fieger’, ‘Yin and Yang by Erwin Fieger’ and ‘Japan – Sunrise – Islands’. Abzug' From the series 'Olympic Year 1980 in the USSR' First print Dimensions: 150 x 100 cm Very good condition Provenance: Estate of the photographer Impressive photograph by an award winning German photographer The present photograph, entitled 'Lenin Propaganda in the Street' by Erwin Fieger was shot in 1980 and is part of the series titled 'Olympic Year 1980 in the USSR' in which the German photographer documented the Olympic Summer Games in Moscow. Here he captured an exterior wall with a larger than life figure of Lenin. In the foreground an unimpressed pedestrian is walking past. From the 1950s onwards Fieger traveled around the world and compiled an extensive oeuvre of photographs, which are now regarded as 'monuments of color photography' and some of which were published in books. The present work is a first print from the estate of the photographer. The photograph is in very good condition. On the back the work is titled, dated, signed and inscribed 'Lenin Plakat Moskau 1980 E. Fieger / 1. Abzug' in black felt-tip pen. The dimensions are 150 x 100 cm. Erwin Fieger (1928-2013) Erwin Fieger studied from 1951 until 1954 graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. In 1964, he taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Design in Ulm.
