        ZDENA FIBICHOVÁ 1933 - 1991 - IMP

        Est: -

The author belongs to a small group of women sculptors who influenced the Czech post-war art scene. She studied sculpture under Prof. Josef Wagner at the Prague School of Applied Arts and was a member of the Trasa art group. As a sculptor she expressed herself in various materials, clay being only one of the material episodes. However, she sought structure in all materials. However, unlike other sculptors, in her early works she did not look for models in Czech Cubism and the interwar avant-garde, but reached deeper into history to archaic cultures and Mediterranean sculpture. Zdena Fibichová's work includes figural and structural sculptures, geometric objects, ceramic reliefs and calligraphic drawings. One of Zdena Fibichová's last solo exhibitions took place at the Kampa Museum in Prague in 2013. The offered work Rarach comes from the last year of the artist's work. The author belongs to a small group of women sculptors who influenced the Czech post-war art scene. She studied sculpture under Prof. Josef Wagner at the Prague School of Applied Arts and was a member of the Trasa art group. Fibichová had a very wide range in her work, both in terms of expression and materials. She always tended towards abstraction but with a realistic undertone. During the 1980s, the artist further developed the principles contained in her earlier works. She introduced the element of pressing - pushing clay through a meat grinder - into her work with ceramics, and wirework, which she used to encircle elementary stereometric shapes Signed: signed: ZF.
