Emilio Fiaschi, 1858 Volterra - 1941 Florenz, auch Emiliano Fiaschi genannt, italienischer Bildhauer, hier: Büste einer jungen schönen Frau mit langen, hinten zusammenfallenden Haaren, Alabaster, 30 x 18 x 30 cm, montiert auf einen roten, weißgeäderten Marmorsockel Zum Künstler: Emilio Fiaschi studierte von 1883 bis 1885 an der Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze und verbrachte den größten Teil seines Lebens in Florenz, wo er auch sehr bekannt wurde. Er beherrschte die Bildhauerei sowohl aus Marmor als auch aus Alabaster und fertigte Frauenporträts und weibliche Akte an, diese meist kleiner als lebensgroße Figuren. Als Ausdruck beigefügt sind hier zwei ganz ähnliche, von Fiaschi signierte Alabaster- Büsten, die die Zuschreibung im Stilvergleich bestätigen, besonders "Büste einer jungen Frau" von 1883 mit gleicher Frisur wie bei dem angebotenen Werk. He was a master sculptor in both marble and alabaster and created portraits of women and female nudes, usually smaller than life-size figures. Two very similar alabaster busts signed by Fiaschi are enclosed here as a printout, which confirm the attribution in a comparison of styles, in particular "Bust of a Young Woman" from 1883 with the same hairstyle as the work on offer

After graduating from St. Ambrose University, he married Jeri (Bowman) Gosselin with whom he had five children. Mr. Gosselin earned his MBA degree from University of Toledo and spent the rest of his career at Lyon Metal Products, eventually becoming President and Owner. After being introduced to the world of antiques at a young age by his Uncle, John Bereman, who was also an avid collector from the time period, Gerry Gosselin was an accomplished antiquarian who enjoyed a lifetime of travel and collecting. He was particularly interested in French history and the decorative arts of the 18th and early 19th centuries. During the course of his collecting, he met and befriended numerous dealers and fellow antiquarians, chief among them Richard "Buzz" Norton. EMILIO FIASCHI, (Italy, 1858 - 1941). "Children". Sculpture in alabaster. Signed on the base. It has slight chipping on the base. Measurements: 50 x 30 x 20 cm. In this work Fiaschi captures a costumbrista scene between two children, a genre theme rooted in the Italian tradition, approached from his own point of view around 1900, leaving aside the social criticism and the description of types and clothes to reflect the emotional, the relationship of affection between the two children, which is revealed in their smiling faces, their smiling looks and in their kiss. A sculptor active in Florence between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Emilio Fiaschi trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence in the Florentine sculptural tradition. He worked mainly in Carrara marble and alabaster, and produced busts and complete figures on a variety of themes, ranging from classical mythology to literary subjects and genre scenes. His language was characterised by an acute sense of detail, and his works are distinguished by the finesse of their finish. He is now represented in private collections in Europe and America.
