Attributed to Thomas Fenwick,  - A lakeside landscape with figures walking alon…

    Est: £150 - £250

Attributed to Thomas Fenwick,  Scottish fl.1835-1850-  A lakeside landscape with figures walking along a path;  oil on board, bears inscription 'By Thomas Fenwick' on the reverse of the frame, indistinctly inscribed verso, 28.5 x 47.3 cm.  Provenance:  The Property of the Late Reverend John Watson.  Note:  Fenwick's output consists largely of Scottish Highland landscapes, made up of loose brushstrokes which impart his pictures with a palpable sense of windswept freshness. He often used soft, muted colours, which emphasise the play of light in the landscapes, just as the pinky hue in the present work evokes the coming of evening.
