    Artist: LANFRANCO FELIN Size: 38 1/2 x 54 1/8 in./97.8 x 137.4 cm A. Parziale, Roma Founded by the journalist Asvero Gravelli in 1936, Ottobre was a Fascist newspaper acting as a mouthpiece for Mussolini. As a close friend of the dictator, Gravelli headed up a variety of cultural branches in the government, including being the Assistant National Secretary of the Fascist Youth Vanguard and Consul of the Voluntary Militia for National Security. Like this poster, the paper itself embraced Italian Futurism, right down to its sports section, aptly titled "Hearts Motors Muscles Steel." Provenance: Appeared in the Gugenheim's 2010 exhibition Chaos & Classicism, sticker on verso.
