Henry Lawrence Faulkner Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1924 - d. 1981

Henry Lawrence Faulkner's prints, depicting his native Kentucky landscapes, country homes, and extensive travels, reveal the artist's passion for color. Born in 1924, he was brought up in foster homes. As a child, he made paint from berries and natural elements. Winning a scholarship to the Louisville School of Art at 15, he began his formal study. In 1942, he left Kentucky to travel. The first exhibit of Henry Lawrence Faulkner's paintings was in New York in the late 1950s where he would meet and become friends with Tennessee Williams, among other celebrities.

Henry Lawrence's prints often display his eccentricity, and some include his bourbon-drinking goat, Alice, a constant companion. He spent most of his income on antique furniture, homes, and helping animals. Friends, patrons, and actors Marlon Brando and Bette Davis all collected Henry Lawrence Faulkner's artwork.
