      • Cosimo Fanzago (Clusone 1591 - Naples 1678) Sculpture of St Jerome in Meditation
        Mar. 16, 2022

Cosimo Fanzago (Clusone 1591 - Naples 1678) Sculpture of St Jerome in Meditation

        Est: €9,000 - €18,000

After his first experience in Rome, where he also worked with Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the sculptor from Lombardy soon became a leading figure on the Neapolitan artistic scene at the beginning of the 17th century. This work is an example of Fanzago's early activity, still intent on assimilating the various trends in early 17th-century sculpture and reworking them in a more mature and personal style. The subject is represented here according to his traditional iconography, completely in white marble.
