      SAMUEL RAYMOND FANSHAW (AMERICAN, 1814-1888) STILL-LIFE WITH APPLE, oil on board, a single green apple on a white linen table cloth with a red background, signed and dated "Fanshaw / 1884" lower right. Housed in a period, probably original, gilt frame, with modern walnut shadow box outer frame. 10 3/8" x 10" sight, 17 1/4" x 16 3/4" OA. Catalogue Note: A lifelong resident of New York City, Samuel Raymond Fanshaw (1814-1888) was a miniature and portrait painter who also created a number of fine still-life paintings of fruit. In his lifetime, he exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the American Institute, and the Brooklyn Academy of Arts.
