    GIOVANNI ANTONIO FALDONI Asolo 1690 - 1770 Rom Nach rechts schauende Vasenträgerin - Evangelist Johannes mit Kelch - Madonna mit schlafendem Jesuskind. Sämtlich mit den Namenszügen der Künstler, Bl. 1 mit der Bezeichnung „Ant.us M.a Zanetti“ und Datum „1724“ sowie Bl. 1 und 2 mit Widmung in der Platte. Auf Bütten. 16,3 x 9,1 bis 19,5 x 13,5 cm. Meist mit minimalem Rändchen sowie an den Ecken alt auf Sammlerunterlage (Albumblatt) mit teils aquarellierten Einfassungslinien montiert (franz. Montierung). Bl. 1 mit leichter Papierquetschfalte im oberen Viertel. Vermutlich sämtlich erschienen in „Varii disegni inventati dal celebre Francesco Mazzuola detto il Parmigianino tratti dalla raccolta Zanettiana incisi in rame da Antonio Faldoni, e novamente pubblicati“ (Venedig 1786). Near his head he saw some bread. It had been baked over hot coals. A jar of water was also there. So Elijah ate and drank. Then he lay down again. The angel came to him a second time. He touched him and said, “Get up and eat. Your journey will be long and hard.” So he got up. He ate and drank. The food gave him new strength. He traveled for 40 days and 40 nights. He kept going until he arrived at Horeb. It was the mountain of God. The print has the initials of the engraver AF bottom right corner. Beneath a Latin text line and also the address of Guiseppe Baroni, Engraver and later publisher in Venice . Died 1730.

Tavola da Varii Disegni Inventati dal Celebre Francesco Mazzuola Detto Il Parmigianino Tratti Dalla Raccolta Zanettiana Incisi in Rame Da Antonio Faldoni e novamente Pubblicati, Venezia 1786. Ottima prova su carta vergellata pesante con filigrana "lettere AV sormontate da coronamento con trifoglio".

    Bulino. mm 117/300x115x260. Foglio: mm 515/525x350/360. Risalgono al 1724-26 (ma due recano la data 1735) le incisioni del Faldoni tolte da disegni che lo Zanetti a sua volta aveva derivato da originali del Parmigianino. La serie contava diciotto stampe (delle quali quattordici incise dal Faldoni due ad opera dello stesso Zanetti e due rispettivamente di Andrea Zucchi e di Carlo Orsolini) che vennero inserite  in due volumi nove per ciascuno in coda alla Raccolta di varie stampe a chiaroscuro tratta da disegni originali di F. Mazzuola... pubblicata a Venezia nel 1749. L'inglese John Strange acquistò i rami originali dagli eredi Zanetti e nel 1786 promosse una ristampa uscita a Venezia ridotta però a quindici tavole (undici del Faldoni due dello Zanetti una dello Zucchi ed una dell'Orsolini) dal titolo Varii disegni iventati dal celebre Francesco Mazzuola ... tratte dalla raccolta zanettiana alla quale  appartiene il presente esemplare.

Marco, Plates XLIII-XLVI Three signed "G. Ant. Faldoni scupt." in the plates l.r., Plate XLIV signed "Gio. Cattini sculpt." in the plate l.r. Engravings on paper, sight sizes 17 x 13 in. (43.2 x 33.0 cm). Condition: Plate XLIV with tear around the plate number, not examined out of frames. N.B. These engravings depict the horses of San Marco, the Triumphal Quadriga, above the central portal of the cathedral in Venice. The Venetians placed the grouping there to represent their victory and dominance over the Byzantine Empire and Constantinople. The original gilded bronze horses are now housed in the cathedral's museum.
