WILLIAM H. EWEN, JR. America, Contemporary "Steamer Peter Stuyvesant on the Hudson River". Signed in pencil lower right "William Ewen". Titled on gallery label verso. The Steamer "Peter Stuyvesant" served as a cruise ship on the Hudson River, but was perhaps more famous for her second career as a floating restaurant as part of Boston's famed Anthony's Pier 4. She was ultimately lost during the Blizzard of 1978 as she broke loose from her elaborate berth. William Ewen Jr. is a noted scholar of steamboat history and is the author of Steamboats on the Hudson River . Pencil on paper, 12.5" x 8.5". Framed 20.75" x 16.5".
