Abonyi Ernő, Late Summer Landscape with Hay Stacks, 1911

      Est: €240 - €312

Oil on canvas Hungary, 1911 Abonyi Ernő (1884-1941) – Hungarian painter Signed and dated lower right ‘Abonyi Ernő 1911’ Total dimensions, framed: 85.5 x 110.5 cm Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 700 EUR Depicted green shades, rich in nuances, is a farm set in the sun behind three hay bales. The landscape is rendered by the artist with an emphasis on the change of light. The green of the trees and the fields is glowing in a summerly light. Thus, exhibiting a loose brushwork, a fresh range of colors and a more pronounced emphasis on color planes, this painting becomes an atmospheric impression of the landscape. The layer of paint depicts craquelé and in the sky and in the right central image area are color touch-ups. The canvas is slightly thinned. In the left area are color chippings and a hole. The canvas displays reverse watermarks. The frame shows some sings of age and wear. The stretcher frame is 76 x 100 cm in size, and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 85.5 x 110.5 cm.
