The art movement was established in the 1910s in the Soviet Union and spread rapidly abroad. Condition: The objects show partially rubbed spots and small losses of color and material (to the edges). The panel bears tears, color flaking as well as a small loss of material to the lower edge, a scratch lower left and three small holes. The frame shows traces of age and wear and the plate is partially loosely and should be fixed. The overall impression is good. Vasily Dmitriewitsch Ermilov (1894-1968) Vasily Ermilov began taking painting classes at an early age. At the age of 17 he moved to Moscow to study at the University of Painting, Sculpting and Architecture. Here he came in contact with Cubism and Suprematism and made the acquaintance of the most important representatives of the Russian avant-garde like i.e. David Burljuk, Petr Konchalowsky and Ilja Maschkow who belonged to the artist group ‘Jack of Diamonds’.
