Signed and inscribed in ink to Neil Leifer by photographer, ""For Neil – on the 30th anniversary. June 5th, 1998."" 9 x 12in.This framed work has been professionally framed by Mr. Leifer’s preferred framer. The frame is handsome, created in a simple, modern design much preferred by museums. The woods is a light, natural shade; the glazing is a UV plexiglass of the highest quality; the backing board is generally a sheet of foam core. Many framed items also include a white matte. Framed works will be sold as-is, in frame. It is the bidders responsibility to remove the print from the frame if they so desire. For LIFE magazine Bill Eppridge accompanied the Liverpool boys on their historic trip to the United States. Here the photojournalist captured the band in a horse carriage in Central park, New York. The photographs taken during the six-day tour photos are intimate snapshots of a band tour that would change the course of music. The gelatin silver print shows the copyright stamp 'CREDIT TO READ: Bill Eppridge LIFE MAGAZINE © 1964 Time Inc. Set # 69907' on verso; it is also stamped 'GRAZIA NERI'. There are further stamps and handwritten notes such as 'Beatles in Central Park'. The print is in very good condition considering its age; the corners are dog-eared outside the depiction. There is a tiny, inconspicuous irregularity to the surface in the darker areas in the left center. The image size is 24.3 x 16.5 cm and the size of the sheet is 25.4 x 20.4 cm. Bill Eppridge (1938-2013) Since he was a young boy Bill Eppridge wanted to be a photojournalist. In 1960 he received his degree in photojournalism at the University of Missouri. He initially worked for National Geographic and gained recognition with a report on the New York Needle Park. In 1964 he joined LIFE. For the magazine, he photographed the Beatles, young Barbra Streisand, Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan amongst others. He shot pictures of the Vietnam War and the Woodstock Festival, and was the only photographer allowed to visit the wife of Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell. Eppridge gained international fame with his photo of the Robert F. Kennedy slumped on the floor of the Ambassador Hotel kitchen on June 5, 1968, which he took only moments after the assassination. From 1972 onwards he worked for various magazines including Time and Sports Illustrated. Bill Eppridge was honored with numerous awards and many of his photos are now in prestigious museums.
