    NORMAN R. EPPINK (American 1906 - 1985) Industrial Scene below Bulkley Boulevard, Cleveland, 1934 Oil on canvas 30 x 40 inches PROVENANCE: Commissioned by the Public Works of Art Project, Region #9 (directed by William Milliken, Director of the Cleveland Museum of Art), for the Public Library, Mansfield, Ohio, circa March 1934; Public Library, Mansfield, Ohio, 1934 - 1979; Probably private collection, Mansfield, Ohio A brass plaque on the frame, lower center, is inscribed: PUBLIC WORKS OF ART PROJECT. The PWAP lasted from December 1933 - June 1934. The records of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio, indicate that the painting was at the museum from May 1934 - July 1934, in transit to the Mansfield Public Library, Ohio. It is possible that the work was in PWAP exhibitions at both institutions.
