    Hopper Emory (1881-1939) Waving Goodbye, 1929

    Etching, signed and dated in the plate, lower left. 6 1/8" x 9 3/4" Emory was born in Baltimore, Maryland and had a successful career in banking before he turned exclusively to his artwork. He traveled to England where he studied at the Heatherly School of Art in London, then returned to Maryland where he became known for his delicately rendered architectural and maritime etchings.

    Hopper Emory etching. Signed in pencil "Hopper Emory" lower right by artist's sister. Card indicates that this plate was found in Emory's estate and is believed to never have been printed. Measures 7" x 5" plate size. Etching is in good to very good condition with light toning over image area. Unframed, loose and not glued or mounted. Provenance: Amity Art Foundation, Inc. collection. We ship most items in this auction in house and gladly combine shipping if possible of multiple items.
