GROSSES BLUMENSTILLLEBEN MIT ANANAS UND SCHMETTERLINGEN Öl auf Leinwand. 117 x 89,5 cm. Hoch aufgebauter, großer Blumenstrauß mit Rosen, Pfingstrosen, Tulpen, Nelken, Narzissen, Primeln, Malven und Mohnblumen sowie weiteren Frühlings- und Frühsommerblumen in leuchtenden frischen Farben. Bekrönt wird der Strauß durch eine Kaiserkerze. Von links oben nähert sich ein gelber Falter den Blumen; zwei weitere Schmetterlinge sind ebenfalls zu sehen. Der Strauß stehend in einer kugeligen roten Vase auf einem Marmortisch, daneben liegend eine Ananas, ein Stiefmütterchen und ein Veilchen, vor neutralem Hintergrund, der nach links zunehmend verschattet. GROSSES BLUMENSSTILLLEBEN MIT ANANAS Öl auf Leinwand. 117 x 89,5 cm. In originalem klassizistischem Rahmen. Vor steingrauem Hintergrund hebt sich das große Blumenbukett in zarten, aber leuchtenden Farben ab. Der Blumenstrauß in einer hochovalen Vase auf kräftiger Marmorplatte, neben der Vase links eine liegende Ananas. Im Gesteck überwiegen die helleren leuchtenden Farben. Im Zentrum mit gefüllten weißen Rosen, Peonien, rosafarbenen Rosen, weißen, rot gesprenkelten Tulpen, gelben Malvenblüten, Schwertlilien und Primeln. Den oberen Abschluss bilden rot blühende Kaiserkronen sowie eine rote Nelke. Der Strauß umgeben von einigen Schmetterlingen, darunter ein Pfauenauge an einer Blüte links. Im Gegensatz zum üppigen Gepränge des Straußes einige kleine Hornveilchenblüten neben dem Vasenfuß. Qualitätvolle Malweise ganz in der Art des Künstlers. A FLOWER STILL LIFE IN A TERRA COTTA VASE 74 by 56 cm. signed and dated 1832 l.l. oil on canvas NOTE Jean Francois Eliaerts was one of the Dutch painters who worked in Paris around 1800, where he exhibited regularly at the prestigious Paris Salon. It was here that Eliaerts introduced the Dutch still life style of the mid-eighteenth century into France, a style which had always been at the forefront of the genre. French still lives had always shown the combined influence of Italian and Dutch prototypes, but in the mid-seventeenth century the Dutch influence dominated. This was partly due to the fact that many Flemish and Dutch artists lived in Paris during that time. Seventeenth century Dutch flower still lives by artists like Willem van Aelst and Rachel Ruysch marked a new compositional style, which was further refined in the eighteenth century by a.o. Eliaerts. In his turn Eliaerts' influence was prominent in France; he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and, being a Professor at the Institute of the Legion d'Honneur, he had a strong impact on his students. The present lot is one of the finest examples of Eliaerts' flower compositions. The subtle variety of pink and orange tones impart a golden warmth to this finely rendered painting, in which every detail emerges with outstanding clarity.
