Fine, stable and age-appropriate craquelure apparent overall. Very minor losses apparent along the perimeter, under the frame rabbet. (50.75 x 40.75cm.) * Condition: Stiff relining and back of canvas lined with cloth. Recent cleaning and fairly extensive restoration. Repaired tear/split to left of her right eye. Some craquelure visible. Examined under UV - clear retouching / repainting in places, notably around the hat, the front of the dress and shoulders, some strengthening visible to facial features, hair and hat string. Hand written label to stretcher detailing attribution by Alan Darwell of Phillips in 1989.
