(American, b. 1963) THE CONGRESS IV chromogenic color print 2411/16 x 301/16 in. (62.7 x 76.4 cm) 1998 this print is number 4 from an edition of 6 PROVENANCE Robert Miller Gallery, NEW YORK Private Collection, WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK EXHIBITED NEW YORK, Robert Miller Gallery, TWO VISIONS BRASILIA, March 16-April 24, 1999 (reproduced on exhibition announcement) A peerless blend of architecture and art, Brasilia, the capitol of Brazil, was conceived with the hopes of transforming Brazilian society into a new social order. Begun in 1958, Brasilia was constructed by, Lucio Costa, who won the competition for the urban master plan, and Oscar Neimeyer, who had previously worked with Le Corbusier in the 1930s, and designed the major government buildings. In Eberle's The CONGRESS IV, we witness the glory of the architecture and the Platonic purity of Neimeyer's forms as they stand silhouetted against the sky.
