      RAÚL EBERHARD OYARZÚN (Valparaíso, Chile, 1955). Untitled, 1989. Mixed media on paper. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Size: 64 x 56 cm; 70 x 81 cm (frame). A painter and visual artist, Raúl Eberhard studied Art History at the Catholic University of Valparaíso, and during this period he worked as an assistant to Professor Patricio Vargas in the subject Psychological Games, which would be key to the development of his career. For more than a decade the artist dedicated himself to gestalt therapy in Chile and Argentina, and from 1979 he worked in a painting restoration workshop and as an illustrator for "El Mercurio" and "Educación". In 1982 he held his first exhibition at the Sala Byrd in Santiago de Chile, and five years later he received an honourable mention in the exhibition at the Sala El Farol at the University of Chile, as well as a scholarship from the Corporación de Amigos del Arte. Since 1988 he has devoted himself exclusively to painting, and around 1989-90 he arrived in Spain, where he joined the group of artists of the Sammer Gallery in Madrid. Since then, Eberhard has held exhibitions of his work in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, the United States (Chicago and Miami), Norway and Germany. Eberhard has also been director of the gallery La Cumbre in Viña del Mar (Chile), where he organised a series of meetings with artists and writers of different kinds, an initiative that won him the Critics' Prize of Valparaíso. He has also taught courses in art history, the human figure, colour and drawing.
